Cruden is not the most 'traditional' company you might have ever come across. Our warehouse-style office overlooking Schiphol airport's runways has desks, chairs and computer equipment as you might expect. But we also have our own indoor beach, a piano and drum kit and instead of meeting rooms, we have containers. From our motion-cueing experts and software-developing boffins to our manufacturing staff, we are a dedicated group, passionate about our company and its products.
Here you can meet some of the people that make Cruden work.
Vehicle dynamicist and CEO
With a background in vehicle dynamics, Maarten has a long career in professional motorsports, developing much of his early professional expertise as part of the Toyota World Rally Team. After starting up his own virtual engineering company where he continued to work in the automotive and motorsport industries, he has led the Cruden organisation (and FCS Race Simulation as it was known previously) for seven years.
Motion-cueing guru
Mark started out as project engineer at Fokker Aircraft, but the world of simulation soon tempted him. Today, he is one of the few people who not only understands, but can also develop and create motion algorithms and motion-cueing models. He brings an invaluable skills set in the professional simulation industry.
Mechanical engineer
A vehicle dynamicist by profession, Pieter is a clear mechanical engineer when it comes to design. Let him design and engineer it and you will get the most efficient design that just won't break. But come up with a nonsense, overcomplicated design and he will be on your case!
Workshop manager and all-round fixer
Designing stuff is great, but in the end, everything needs to be built. This is where Hans - an automotive and mechanical engineer by profession - and his team come in. Any task, no matter how impossible it appears, will get done. We are yet to meet a more resourceful person in pulling things together in a workshop.
Software artist and legend
Ruud is a world-class software artist. He studied computer science and in his younger years, developed games, graphics and leaders for Dutch television. He then moved on to simulation and now heads up a team of software gurus developing Cruden's software architecture, image rendering and GUI (Graphical User Interface), as well as being responsible for the simulator's interface with peripheral equipment.
Content development and project manager
Terry studied graphical design, specialising in car simulation and design. He heads up Cruden's content development department - an ideal job for such a computer (gaming) freak. His knowledge of car and track detailing is second to none and very much valued.
Cruden Asia
Roy is a specialist in mechatronics and has spent many a year in the simulation industry. Actually, it has been his thing for the past 25 years, so much so that he has even chosen to lecture on motion simulation at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia and to industry groups. Roy's experience in the manufacture of large entertainment simulators adds to his depth of simulation and entertainment business know-how. Having lived and worked in Europe, Roy is familiar with our technology and as a true Aussie, no man is more positive than he is!
